Tuscaloosa Outreach 2011
Watthew Ministries International, Inc. joined hands with Hope of Shiloh Community Church to impact the lives of tornado victims in Tuscaloosa, Al. in November 2011. We collected needed items such as shoes, new socks, coats, clothing, linens, toys, infant items, blankets, toiletries, canned goods, housewares, books, CD’s, pots and pans, small appliances, electronics, and much much more.
The Somebody Cares Ministry of Hope of Shiloh (under the leadership of Evangelist Rhudine M. Poole) solicited the support of its membership and those outside of the church to help with coordination, networking, collection, sorting and packing items to be delivered. Elder Robert E. Benn is Pastor of Hope of Shiloh Community Church.
We were able to link with the director and staff of TES Thrift Store (Temporary Emergency Services) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to aid in the recovery of so many affected by the tornado by making these items available. TES is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families in times of emergency and crisis. The most common situations include: Loss due to fire, Natural disasters like tornadoes or floods, Medical emergencies and Loss of employment. They are located at 1705 15th Street, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
Deacon John Anderson and Deacon Frank Howard of Hope of Shiloh Community Church drove the items in the truck from Tampa, FL to Alabama one way. After unloading, they drove back to Tampa in the rental car that was provided for them. To God be the glory.
Penske Truck Rental Corporation played a major role in the success of this venture through their generous in-kind contribution. The 26 foot Penske Rental Truck (shown below) and a car trailer which they allowed us to use was valued at approximately $875.00. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to Penske.
